OVERVIEW

Amaravati has adopted the google Drive services in the past decades. Many folders and files have been compiled, but they are difficult to share and access. This dilution of information makes it difficult to train new people and hard to understand how the organization functions. The wiki aims at acting like a node that would connect all the internal components of the organization. 

“A wiki is a web-based collaborative platform that enables users to store, create and modify content in an organized manner. The term comes from the word wiki wiki, which means fast in Hawaiian.”

 

Centralized vs decentralized network

GOALS

1. Implement a wiki on our server and use it as our main interface for managing information.

2. Create an attractive first user experience and provide training and guidance for the community

3. Grow a vast centralized base of knowledge, interconnected and dynamically updated by the community.

4. In the long term, sharing information with other monasteries and having a global sharing platform (forest sangha wiki)

SPECIFICATIONS

• Needs to use auth Google

• Integrated with Drive would be good.

• Publicly accessible but not publicly shared

• Different level of accessibility (each level explain how to go the the next one)

• Ex: Login only, finance group only, admin only…

NOTES

• Wiki might not be the best name: “intranet”, “sati”, “vijja”, “vaca”, “tusita”, “nama”, “mano”, etc.

I) Installati

• Installation guide

• Community docker not needed 

• Installation Script on fresh OS if possible

• subdomain info.amaravati.org to be the main subdomain, and also wiki.amaravati.org as secondary or link to info.amaravati.org

• Create wiki@amaravati.org email account for the wiki admin

• Third Party Authentication 

• Google Amaravati accounts

• Add extra on demand (like the archive website) : Ad-hoc user

• There is a self registered way of creating a login, but I think it would be preferable now to send a request to wiki@amaravati.org (via email or online form) that is then created manually.

• Emails (& webhooks) yes

• If Ad-hoc users lose their password, main update, news. etc…

• Configuring File Uploads

• as we use mostly links to google drive, the rest of the files of the wiki could be stored locally.

• Backup and Restore

•  There are two types of content we need to backup: Files and database records.

• Security: perhaps if this can be set up behind cloudflare firewall to avoid ‘public’ attack.
