Heartwood House

Grand Father Clock

Uncle Brian from Cambridge came. He is a professional in antique clock, so I asked him to fix our grandfather clock in the Heartwood and he made it ticking again. His name card is in the clock.  xo.xy47@gmail.com

I understand that some people might found the chime sounds annoying, it has a switch between (up) silent and (down) chime next to the III o’clock. The ticking of mechanism still a bit loud.

Heartwood house - guidelines

Welcome to Heartwood House! We wanted to share a few things that we have found helpful to know when living here. As you may have noticed, this space has some unique characteristics, and we hope these guidelines will help us all live together in harmony.

Noise: Please be mindful of noise levels in shared areas and keep discussions to a minimum. No meetings should be held in these areas. Walking lightly and being careful when closing doors is appreciated, as sound can travel easily through the building. Especially anyone living above another person’s room.

Computer Use: The computer is available for quick access and convenience, but use should be limited to 1 hour per session to allow others to make use of it. For longer use, please go to the bhikkhu vihara computer room. The usual computer room guidelines also apply (e.g only between 6:30am to 6:30pm, closed Wan Phra / group practice etc)

Shared utilities and spaces: Washing machine and vacuum cleaner use should be limited to specific times. The shared areas should be kept clean and tidy, and a chore schedule is in place to ensure this.

Visitors: No lay people are allowed unless all are informed and agreed.

Communication: Sometimes it is necessary to inform everyone about things happening at Heartwood House. This can be done by leaving a note on the kitchen table. Some issues might be best to be addressed by the lodgings monk or brought up at the bhikkhu samanera meetings.
